Non-Asbestos Gaskets
Aramid, inorganic, graphite, cork, felt, rubber, vegetable fiber and paper gaskets are available in sheet, roll, and cut gasket form.
Suppliers are now producing non-asbestos material due to the health hazards, such as Mesothelioma, associated with asbestos exposure. Asbestos was mainly used as a reinforcng fiber. These days, we have several alternatives. For example, aramid synthetic fibre (found in Kevlar) is heat-resistant and very strong.
Flexible graphite material can handle temperatures at +950°F in oxidizing air or +5400°F in a non-oxidizing atmosphere. Graphite can perform under pressure and in extreme chemicals.
